Marin SAT Prep Subject Test (SAT II) Course Information & Schedule

Marin SAT Prep will present small group classes in May for students planning to take SAT Subject Tests (SAT II’s) on June 5.
US History
Targets those topics, people, and events specifically tested on the SAT US History Subject Test, with special emphasis placed on the historical context students need to succeed. Students also learn important SAT test taking strategies as well as effective techniques for handling each US History question type.
Math II
Designed with the needs of advanced Math students in mind, this course covers all of the topics tested on the SAT Math II Subject Test including: advanced functions, trigonometry, logarithmic manipulation, complex equation graphing, and more. Students learn how to determine the best approach and most efficient solution for each question type, while reviewing common SAT tricks that can trip up even the sharpest Math whizzes.
Literature
Students learn how to apply the Marin SAT Prep reading strategy to poetry, plays, and advanced prose passages from the 16th century to the present day. Course includes literary and rhetorical terminology, interpretive techniques, timing and other test taking strategies.
Lessons per course:
4 (each course meets weekly for 1½ hours per lesson).
Lesson schedule:
Classes begin the week of May 10 and continue for 4 consecutive weeks.
Students register for one day & time per course.
US History:
Mondays – 4:00 pm
or
Wednesdays – 7:30 pm
Math II:
Tuesdays – 7:30 pm
or
Wednesdays – 4:00 pm
Literature:
Mondays – 7:30 pm
or
Tuesdays – 4:00 pm
Course fee per subject:
New students: $400
Returning students: $350
Course fee includes all materials.
Payment due in full at or before first lesson.

Marin SAT Prep Summer ‘Boot Camp’ 2010

Summer is an ideal time to study for the SAT.
Whether you are a rising Junior taking the PSAT in the Fall or a rising Senior looking to improve on your previous SAT scores, Marin SAT Prep’s intensive, 12-lesson Summer course provides thorough training in all of the strategies and skills you need to succeed.
Classes meet daily, Monday through Thursday, for three consecutive weeks at the Marin SAT Prep classroom, conveniently located near N. San Pedro Rd. & Hwy 101 in central San Rafael.
2010 course dates (Mondays – Thursdays):
Jun 14 – July 1
or
July 5 – 22
or
July 26 – August 12
Class time (9:30 am – 12:00 pm):
Formal instruction begins at 9:30 am and ends at 11:00 am. Students then complete homework during a one hour, guided study session.
Class size:
Classes are taught in a special seminar format of no more than 5 students per class. The low student-teacher ratio assures personal attention to each student’s individual needs. Students may also supplement class instruction with private sessions if they wish.
Course fee:
The cost of Marin SAT Prep’s complete 3-week Summer SAT prep course, including all course materials, is $1200. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a slot. Remaining payment for the course is due in full at or before the first lesson.

Free Seminar: “What parents need to know about the SAT”

On March 18, 2009 , I’ll be giving a talk for parents on what they need to know about the SAT. This free seminar is designed to help parents understand more clearly all of the various issues involved with succeeding on this all important test.

Results include a detailed diagnostic evaluation.
Please bring sharpened pencils and a calculator.

While these tests are offered free of charge, space is limited.
