I have been tutoring math for the last eight years.
I specialize in students who are believed to be ‘not good at math.’ I also specialize in helping students with limited time and financial resources. I for every student I develop highly individualized program, utilizing hundreds of the ‘official SAT’ problems I accumulated through the years.
One of the easiest ways to increase math SAT score for many students is to learn how to solve geometry problems. My students are often surprised how fast they can learn geometry relevant to the SAT test.
I have BS in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science. Prior to becoming a professional math tutor I worked for more then ten years developing education software at IBM Research Center.

She is smart, punctual, responsible and sweet too! We recently reconnected with Jackie as my daughter is applying to transfer Universities. Jackie arranged “phone” appointments as we are in different states now. She was so helpful at a stressful time. We highly recommend Jackie Christy!

    Philadelphia Tutors

“I just don’t think I could’ve chosen a better tutor if I’d done it personally. Amanda showed up on time and was so genuine that my son wasn’t intimidated; indeed, he was motivated to please her. She is a natural educator (as opposed to ‘teacher’)….In all, I would not hesitate to recommend your services. Please use me as a reference if you choose to.”
Parent of a High School Senior

“We were very pleased with Victor’s work. Our son improved his SAT score about 180 points. The tutor definitely kept his end of the bargain. He was prompt, struck the right balance of friendliness and business. Obviously he is highly competent.”
Parent of a High School Senior

“I am a mathematics instructional coach and I have 18 years experience in the school system teaching Middle School and High School mathematics. The reason I went to The Tutoring Company in Philadelphia is because I wanted my daughter to have the experience of working with someone else and of course time. I am working on my doctorate and I don’t have time for anything else. My daughter has enjoyed all of her tutors and they have really helped her to be successful in her AP classes. She was very excited with the match that you gave her with Jenn. She and Desirae get along well and Desirae says that she enjoys her style of tutoring.”
Parent of a High School Senior

“My tutor has taken me from horribly organized and poorly planned papers that received B’s and C’s in my writing classes to A’s in almost all of my writing assignments. Now I am the student who receives ‘Excellent work!’ ‘Well thought out,’ and ‘Can’t wait to read more!’ comments from my professors. My tutor helped me become a better, more confident writer by working with me one on one until I understood why and how I should change my writings. Thank you!”
    Hilary, College Sophomore, Chemistry Major

  21. Jeff Bergman says:

Hiring a tutor for SAT prep is a big investment of time and money. You want a big result. Something like this:

“I loved studying for the SATs. My tutor knew just how to coach me through the process so I not only got a great score but I also loved doing it.”

    Let’s be honest.

Any halfway competent SAT tutor with a few months experience, every employee of every test prep company, understands the material on the test and can explain it ad nauseam. Most of them understand the test taking methods and can explain them, too.
But they don’t really understand their students.

That’s why a recent  study by the National Association for College Admission Counseling revealed that most people who pay for SAT prep raise their scores only in the neighborhood of 30 points.

You don’t have to let that happen to you.

I’ve been tutoring kids for the SAT, the ACT, and the Subject Tests in Math and Literature for 9 years, and during that time I’ve learned a lot about how people learn and what can get in the way.

I’ve learned that most people are capable of doing far better than they ever imagined.
When you give a a motivated student a highly skilled tutor, or academic coach, you can get extraordinary results. The real question isn’t whether it’s possible, it’s how to achieve it.

    Here’s to your SAT success!
